Commitments that hold on both sides of the farm economy

Gramsway sits on both sides of the farm economy, sourcing what comes off the land and supplying what goes back into it, so our sustainability commitments have to hold on both sides too.

Our commitment, at a glance
01

Healthier Soil, Every Season

Regenerative practices supported through the same relationships we already use to source and supply, not a separate outreach program.

02

A Measured Footprint

Environmental impact factored into how we route freight and run storage, not reported after the fact.

03

Traceable to Origin

Direct origination relationships and digital records that trace a cargo back to the farm it came from.

04

Commitments We Publish

Policies and progress reported openly, reviewed against real regional program data, not drafted separately from the teams doing the work.

Our programs

Four programs, one standard

Each program carries the same five-part treatment as our product and service lines: what it is, who it reaches, what it's measured against, where it shows up in the business, and what makes our approach different.

06.1

Regenerative Agriculture & Farmer Programs

Healthier soil today is tomorrow's harvest.

Gramsway supports the farmers we source from and supply to in adopting regenerative practices (cover cropping, reduced tillage, crop rotation, and balanced nutrient application) that protect soil health and keep yields resilient over the long term, not just this season.

Who it reaches

Delivered through our regional origination teams and extension partnerships across Africa, South America, and Asia, reaching smallholder and commercial farmers alike through the same relationships we use to source grain and distribute fertilizer.

What it's measured against

Programs guided by recognized regenerative agriculture frameworks and tracked against soil health, water-use, and input-efficiency indicators, with progress reported in our annual sustainability update.

Where it shows up

Farmer training alongside fertilizer and farming equipment sales, informing the nutrient recommendations that come out of our Research & Innovation work, and feeding the traceability data buyers increasingly ask for.

Our Edge

Regenerative agriculture support delivered through the same teams and relationships already on the ground for origination and fertilizer distribution, not a separate outreach program layered on top.

06.2

Environmental Stewardship

Managing the footprint of moving things at scale.

Moving commodities and fertilizers at global scale carries an environmental cost in storage, processing, and freight. Gramsway manages that footprint deliberately rather than treating it as a fixed cost of doing business.

Who it reaches

Addressed across our storage, port, and freight operations in every operating region, with priority given to the highest-impact links in the chain: ocean and bulk freight, and energy use at storage and handling facilities.

What it's measured against

Tracked against emissions, water-use, and waste metrics benchmarked to industry norms, with freight and logistics partners expected to report on efficiency measures where contracts allow.

Where it shows up

Factored into how we route freight, select storage partners, and plan port handling capacity, and reported alongside our Freight & Logistics service line.

Our Edge

Environmental performance treated as a logistics planning input, not an afterthought layered on once routes and contracts are already set.

06.3

Ethical Sourcing & Traceability

Knowing where a cargo actually came from.

Buyers increasingly need to know not just what they're purchasing, but where it came from and under what conditions. Gramsway's sourcing policies are built to support fair treatment of the producers we work with and traceability back to origin.

Who it reaches

Built on direct relationships with producers and cooperatives, particularly across our African, South American, and Asian origination networks, rather than exclusively through intermediaries, and supported by the digital traceability tools developed through our Research & Innovation work.

What it's measured against

Policies address fair labor practices, no-deforestation and no-conversion commitments on land linked to our supply, and human rights due diligence consistent with recognized international frameworks.

Where it shows up

Underpins the origin documentation we provide to buyers, our grievance process for flagged sourcing concerns, and the supplier standards built into our origination contracts.

Our Edge

Traceability that comes from how we buy, through direct origination relationships and digital records kept at the point of purchase, rather than a compliance audit run after the fact.

06.4

Sustainability Policies & Reports

Commitments worth writing down.

We publish our sustainability policies and progress so that the farmers, buyers, and partners we work with can hold us to them, not just read about our intentions.

Who it reaches

Developed with input from our regional teams, who see first-hand where our regenerative agriculture, environmental, and sourcing commitments hold up and where they need work.

What it's measured against

Policies and reports structured around clear, time-bound commitments rather than general statements of intent, updated as programs mature and as regional context changes.

Where it shows up

Available to counterparties as part of trade due-diligence requests, and used internally to track progress on our regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship, and ethical sourcing programs.

Our Edge

Published commitments reviewed against actual regional program data, not drafted separately from the teams doing the work.
